Author Interviews

Today I am please to introduce you to my good friend, Paula Michelson

Paula is the author of Casa De Naomi - The House of Blessing.(Book 1 out of a six book series). Paula, tell us about your publishing journey.

Ten years ago, I gifted a friend, who publishes Messianic authors, one of my framed writings. Whenever we met, she asked if I was persuing my craft. Six years later, I heard David Hocking speak about Israel being the land and the people. I wondered about the hidden Jews, asked God to show them to me, and I petitioned him to give me something to do that no one had done. Wishing to do something to advance the gospel, I meet with my publisher friend, and spoke of potential projects. She asked me what I would do if I could write anything. Suddenly David Hocking’s message, my desire to discover the hidden Jews, and share the gospel coalesced. I knew what I was going to write about.

I researched the Appalachian Trail, and wrote character sketches for two of the three women who would meet while hiking. However, I could not write about this Sephardic Jew named Naomi, because her people were an enigma to me. While lunching with friends, I discovered that two of them were Spanish Jews. Another friend had married a Sephardic Jew. Months of research prepared me to begin writing Naomi’s character sketch. Since my publisher friend asked me to send her my dailies, I did. Forty days later she informed me that I was writing a book. She suggested that I go back three days, and read what I had written. When I did, I discovered that she was right. However, I was not writing the book I had intended to write, but the one God wanted me to write!

As I wrote, the characters told me their stories. Once they stopped speaking, the book was finished. I spoke with some of my writer/author friends, and discovered that hearing the characters was a blessing all writers long for. Therefore, I proudly proclaim that I am a scribe for God!

My husband and I had lunch with my publisher friend and her husband. “What’s the title of your book?” she asked. “Have you tiled the chapters?” A lengthily discussion ensued. Before we parted, the novel had a title, and she had suggested a series. Only when I sought Messiah (Christ) in prayer did I believe that this novel was the first one in a series of books.

When the novel was ready to be published, my publisher friend was unavailable. At first I was miffed. Yet God knew that a rough draft does not a book make. My husbands’ comments fueled my desire to give readers a book they would not put down until they read the last page. I attended critique groups, edited the manuscript, and was blessed to be given an editor at Tate Publishing who loved my project. Casa de Naomi: The House of Blessing was released on December 20, 2011, and garnered many accolades including those from readers who did, indeed read the novel in one sitting.

An illegal immigrant bound by secrets trapped by choices. An arranged marriage; a forbidden love. Will Naomi be able to tell her husband about herself before someone else does?

Today I am pleased to present my first author interview with Anne Patrick.
Anne - tell us a little about yourself.

I'm an author of romance, mayhem & faith.  When I'm not writing I enjoy spending time with family and friends.  I also love to travel and am blessed to be part of a wonderful mission team that I travel with every couple of years.  Our adventures have taken us to El Salvador, Jamaica, and Honduras so far.  Wherever the Lord leads us.

1.      How did you come to be a writer?
I can't remember a time when I wasn't making up stories in my head, but I didn't really get serious about my craft until a few years ago.  I'd taken several writing courses over the years and then I had the good fortune of finding a professional editor who worked with me on my first two books.  I learned more from her than I did in all the classes I took.  She was tough, but she was also very encouraging.

2.      Tell us about your latest book. KILL SHOT is the first book in my Wounded Heroes Series. My heroine, Kory, is a former combat medic. After three tours in Iraq, she returns home suffering from PTSD. That's the least of her problems, though. The same person who murdered her sister now has their sights on Kory. She is also struggling spiritually. The sights and sounds of war have darkened her heart.   Kory finds an ally in Sheriff Sean Harding.  He's determined to keep her safe, and prove that God never forsakes us.  Together, they search for the answers behind her sister's murder as a trained assassin lurks nearby.

You can purchase KILL SHOT from my publisher:, or at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and

3.      Where did you get your ideas for your stories?
Life.  There are stories all around us if we open our eyes and hearts.

4.      Favorite scripture and/or quote:
Favorite scripture: Psalm 119:105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Favorite quote - I have two:
"All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them." ~ Walt Disney.
"Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.

5.      Name five things you “can’t” live without.  My relationship with the Lord, family, music, my laptop (or pen and paper), and my Kindle.

6.      Where is the most interesting place you have been and why?
Honduras.  All of my mission trips have been special but this one was extraordinary.  We were working in the middle of nowhere and we wanted to treat the children there to some ice cream but didn't know where in the world we'd get any.  God sent us an ice cream truck.  It just showed up at our worksite out of the blue.  None of us knew anything about it. I'd seen God do some wonderful things in the mission field before but this was amazing!
